Unfiled Thoughts.

April 2, 2008

Here are some random thoughts….

I wake up determined to eat smart, but when I get to Gringo’s Mexican invited by someone who I know will pay I eat terrible.

How is it possible the Koby forgets all rules when he hasn’t had an afternoon nap?

Koby will be 4 tomorrow, I know I am supposed to say it has flown by but I have really tried to make the most of every moment in  four years with him.  I have greatly underestimated how much I would love being around my first son.  He is great.

I fear the day Keaton turns 13, she is way too pretty.

I am embarrassed to be an American when I think about how superficial, dishonest, and confusing the government has become.  Thank God for THE King, Jesus.

Gas is getting really expensive, I am glad I live close to work. (But, I wish I lived closer to a good coffee shop.)

Nothing, I mean, nothing can replace the role of good parenting.  I know too many young people who are throwing their lives away because their parents are not parenting and they have no sense of authority, teachability, and security.

Why is it that some guys shave their legs?  If you swim or are a leg model or are an athlete where you need to get your legs taped or whatever, then I guess that is cool.  However, it seems that there are more and more guys at the gym who are shaving their legs.  “Hey, you look absolutely ridiculous!  Man up and put down the razor!”

I have some new friends that are quickly become really good friends.  It is refreshing to meet new people.

Who are we kidding?  If Obama went to Jeremiah Wright’s weekly social injustice meeting (“church”) for many years, he DOES agree with him on most things.  So, we should be very nervous about someone like him who shares Jeremiah’s sentiments becoming president (although racism DOES still exist, and it is terrible).  If he doesn’t share Jeremiah’s sentiments then we should be very nervous about someone who can go to the same church for so many years while not sharing the majority view of the pastor without leaving.

The greatest challenge facing the church in any metropolitan city is racial integration, not the type of music we are going to use.  Also, we will not have diversified churches if we don’t have a diversified leadership.

I am going to try to keep up with Astros this year, so I can join in on conversations about them (not so much because I like watching baseball….too slow).

Jeanie is the funniest person I know (the prettiest, too).

Amen to the closeness of a good coffee shop. We should just start one equidistant from our houses.

Amen on the afternoon nap! The Latin countries have it all over us in the benefits of an afternoon nap. Eat a big lunch, nap for an hour or so and come back refreshed. Eat a light supper, which is better for you anyway. Could help the Gringos issue too!

And as far as government goes, remember the old saying, “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.” People don’t need to be taught how to be evil, it just comes naturally!

I think Obama attends Oprah’s church.

I think the greatest challenge facing any church when it comes to diversity is diversity in leadership. Our chuch is very diverse but if you break it down, most of the white members are the leaders and volunteers.

Why are you looking at so many guys legs? It seems like you can’t drop the whole “I keep going to the gym…” thing.

I’ll be sure to where pants next time we play twister.
